Espirito Santo Group – South America

The passion for the big green spaces, inspired by his work in Angola, made Antonio Espírito Santo begin the Group’s activities in South America between 1976 and 1980.

Even with his dedication to the traditional interest area, the financial one, it was in Brazil, where the Espirito Santo Group was reborned, giving it’s first steps in the area where Antonio Espirito Santo turned out to be an expert, the agriculture. This great Brazil enthusiastic, planted business seeds that today constitutes the core of the Group’s agribusiness. In 1991 he received the prestigious “Vizconde de Cayru” prize, for the entrepreneurship spirit applied in that country, initially in Agribahia S.A. and the Brazilian Agro Company COBRAPE.

The business transpassed the borders, and in Paraguay the Group made great investments through Golondrina Agricultural Society, and most recently with CORINA Livestock Farms and Fields S.A.

António Espírito Santo passed away in august 1995, he was one of the most important members of the Espirito Santo Superior Council, now days presided by Commander Luis Roquette Ricciardi, and counselled by Mário Amaral, Ricardo Espírito Santo Salgado, José Manuel Espírito Santo and Manuel Fernando Espírito Santo.
