With a great and growing prestige in Portugal and overseas, the Espirito Santo and Commercial Bank from Lisbon, soon began to diversify it’s business, and made very important partnerships with international institutions.

In 1972, it participated in the creation of the Pound Bank Limited, in London, together with The Chase Manhattan Bank, The Italian Credit Spa, The Mitsubishi Bank Limited and the National Westminster Bank. In that same year in association with the Citibank, it created a subsidiaries Bank in Angola, named Inter-United Bank.

The Bank and the Espirito Santo Family always seek for national and international allies for their business. Among them we find names such as Rockfeller, Firestone, Swedish Match and Petrofina.
